Subscription Solar allows you to buy electricity directly from a solar farm in our region without owning the panels. This can be a great option for renters or for those who are unable to purchase a solar system for other reasons.
Subscription models don't tend to have upfront costs, are usually short-term contracts, and are generally cheaper than utility rates, usually offering a 5% or 10% discount, sometimes higher. Subscription solar works for those who receive a bill from a major utility (e.g. NYSEG) and do not have a demand charge on their bill.
There are a number of Subscription Solar providers in our region, which provide various discounts:
Meadow: 5-10% discount standard, 5-10% discount if income qualified
Nexamp: 10% discount standard, 20% discount if income qualified*
Citizens Energy Corporation: 20% discount standard, 20% discount if income qualified
*Income eligible homeowners must receive SNAP and/or HEAP benefits. To access Nexamp's enhanced discount, please call Nexamp (855-727-4636) to enroll rather than registering online.
